Chak Kti’s: Banana Tapioca Coconut Cream

This simple dessert, made from the two most common Khmer ingredients, sago seed and fresh yellow banana, can be found in markets throughout the country. There is another version that has an oblong shape and is cooked with sweet coconut cream.

  • 5 gr sago seed
  • 3 pieces fresh banana yellow
  • 1/5 cans coconut cream
  • 20 gr sugar white


  • 1. Peel the fresh banana and clean it well.
    2. Slice the fresh banana into 4 pieces and place in a bowl of salt water.
    3. Clean the sago seed by soaking in water for about 2-3 minutes.
    4. In a saucepan over the heat with a little boiling water add the sago seeds and leave for about 4 minutes. Then add the banana slice and let it boil for 4 minutes.
    5. Add sugar, salt, coconut cream and leave on low heat until sugar is dissolved.
    6. Remove from heat, put in a bowl and it is ready to eat.
