Bor Bor Pot: Corn Porridge, Sago Seed with Coconut Cream

This simple dessert, made from the two most common Khmer ingredients, sago seed and fresh corn, can be found in markets throughout the country. There is another version that has an oblong shape and is filled with sweet coconut cream

  • 5 gr sago seed
  • 1 piece fresh corn on the top
  • 1 pick of salt
  • 1/5 cans coconut milk
  • 20 gr sugar white


  • 1. Peel fresh corn and clean it to remove hair.
    2. Slice the fresh corn with a paring knife and place in a bowl.
    3. Clean the sago seed by soaking it in water for about 2 to 3 minutes.
    4. In a saucepan over the heat with a little boiling water add the sago seeds, leave for about 4 minutes. Then add the corn slice and let it boil for 4 minutes.
    5. Add sugar, salt, coconut cream and leave on low heat until sugar is dissolved.
    6. Take out of the fire, put in a bowl and it is ready to eat.
